THE DRIFTWOOD TIDE
Crafting a Serene Sanctuary for the Next Chapter
After years of managing a bustling household, these homeowners were ready for their next chapter: a serene, retirement-ready sanctuary designed for effortless gathering. The original floor plan stood in their way, burdened by a disjointed layout and backyard access that awkwardly routed directly through the primary suite. We completely reimagined the flow to solve this. Today, the centerpiece is a dramatic, seafoam-patterned waterfall island, anchored by a striking vertical wood slat wall that seamlessly conceals a secret entrance to the primary bedroom—turning a former layout flaw into an architectural focal point.

OBJECTIVE
Reconfigure the dining, kitchen, and living areas to establish an intuitive flow, maximize usable prep space, and create a tranquil, elevated culinary hub perfect for everyday living and entertaining.
Approach
Space layout: We executed a full footprint swap between the kitchen and dining rooms, unlocking the ability to install expansive sliding glass doors for direct backyard access. By partially closing off the living room from the kitchen, we carved out dedicated space for an oversized refrigerator and a statement island.
Functionality: While the original kitchen was spacious, it was weighed down by an awkward appliance arrangement. We remapped the entire workflow, engineering a highly efficient layout optimized to comfortably accommodate two people cooking together without crossing paths.
Design: The aesthetic breathes coastal calm, blending warm taupe cabinetry with ocean-inspired stone and tile, all accented by rich brass hardware. Fully concealed, panel-ready appliances maintain a sleek, unbroken visual line. Textural elements, like the striking wood slat accent wall and a custom, curved illuminated display shelf in the dining room, add deep architectural warmth and visual interest to the space.
